Pickup Schedule

  • Trash: Weekly pickup β€” most neighborhoods on the same day of the week. Call City Hall (419) 484-5000 to find your specific pickup day.
  • Recycling: Bi-weekly. Same day as trash, alternating weeks.
  • Holiday schedule note: Pickup may shift one day after major holidays (Christmas, New Year's, Thanksgiving, July 4th, Memorial Day, Labor Day). Check with City Hall.
  • Set-out rules: Bins at curbside by 6AM on pickup day. Remove bins within 24 hours of pickup.

WHAT TO RECYCLE (βœ“)

  • βœ“ Paper: newspapers, junk mail, cardboard, paper bags, office paper, phone books
  • βœ“ Plastic: bottles and jugs with recycling symbols 1-7 (clean and empty)
  • βœ“ Metal: aluminum cans, steel/tin cans, clean aluminum foil
  • βœ“ Glass: clear, brown, and green glass bottles and jars
  • βœ“ Cardboard: flatten all boxes, remove packing peanuts

DO NOT RECYCLE (βœ—)

  • βœ— Plastic bags, plastic film, or bubble wrap (take to Walmart/grocery store drop-off)
  • βœ— Styrofoam / polystyrene foam
  • βœ— Food waste or food-soiled containers
  • βœ— Pizza boxes with grease (unsoiled lids are OK)
  • βœ— Shredded paper (too small β€” put in trash)
  • βœ— Medical sharps, syringes, or medicines
  • βœ— Electronics (see e-waste section)
  • βœ— Hazardous materials

Special Disposal

Bulk Items

Large furniture, appliances, and mattresses require special pickup scheduling. Call City Hall at (419) 484-5000 to schedule. Fees may apply for some items. Do not leave bulk items at the curb without scheduling.

Yard Waste

Seasonal yard waste pickup available spring through fall. Leaves, grass clippings, and brush in paper yard waste bags only. No plastic bags. Check city schedule for dates.

Hazardous Waste

Erie County holds periodic household hazardous waste collection events. Accepted: paint, pesticides, batteries, motor oil, fluorescent bulbs, medications. Check eriecountyohio.gov for next event.

Electronics / E-Waste

TVs, computers, phones, and electronics cannot go in regular trash. Erie County drop-off sites available. Best Buy Bellevue accepts some electronics. Check epa.gov/eparecycles for options.
